About Us
Reggie’s Roast is both Farmer and Roaster – we own and operate two farms in the Blue Mountain Coffee growing region of Jamaica where the coffee is processed under strict guidelines in compliance with the Jamaica Coffee Industry Board’s standards, then exported to our roasting facility in Linden, New Jersey where it is meticulously prepared and shipped as fresh as possible for your palate’s pleasure…we ONLY roast when you order!
H. “Reggie” ChungLoy is a Jamaican-born general and vascular surgeon in private practice in Central New Jersey who received his
medical degree from Howard University in Washington, DC, and completed surgical training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.
Having spent his early years in the shadows of the Blue Mountains whilst growing up in the parishes of Portland and St. Andrew,
Reggie, like most Jamaicans grew accustomed to the unusually sweet and mild Java from the overlying hills. While residing in
Manhattan, this delicious Java could be found only in the most exotic coffee establishments in NYC, usually sporadically, and often of
questionable authenticity, freshness and quality. In a stroke of good fortune, Reggie acquired an old coffee farm in the Blue Mountains
in the 1990’s, with mature coffee trees essentially growing wild. Thus was born the Gentleman Farmer and the creation of MIRE
Enterprises. MIRE Enterprises has since acquired and developed a second coffee farm in the Blue Mountains.
Unfortunately, finding authentic high quality Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee in NYC and North America continued to be difficult.
Traditionally, Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is primarily exported to the Japanese market, with small quantities infiltrating into the North
American and European continent. In early 2000, Reggie partnered with other farmers in the Blue Mountain Region in a collaborative
effort to market Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee in North America and Europe. This led to the creation of the REGGIE'S ROAST
JAMAICA BLUE MOUNTAIN COFFEE Brand. Since Reggie is a farmer and due to his relationship with the other farmers, he is uniquely
positioned to secure the crème de la crème of the Blue Mountain. Reggie is keenly aware of his social responsibilities when dealing with
small farmers in the rural areas of Jamaica and as such MIRE Enterprises has created Reggie’s Roast OPERATION GIVEBACK, whose
mission is to provide health care and educational opportunities to the farmers and their families.
Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee is arguably the best coffee in the world. It is also amongst the rarest and thus one of the most
expensive of the well-known varietals. Because of these factors authenticity is extremely important to us as well as the Coffee Industry
Board of Jamaica. All Reggie’s Roast Blue Mountain coffee carries a certificate of authenticity issued by the Coffee Industry Board of
Jamaica. The green coffee is exported in barrels to our plant in Linden, New Jersey where we roast upon order in small batches
thereby guaranteeing the freshest product possible to the consumer.
Reggie's Roast currently offers 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee (GOLD), and 100% Jamaica Blue Mountain PEABERRY coffee. We
also currently have four Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee blends; our RASTA BLEND, the PANAMA BLUE, BLUE PAPUA and the NEGRIL
BLEND - our own Caribbean Sunrise!
Additionally, our alliances with premium coffee growers throughout the world has also afforded us the opportunity to bring to you
some of the finest arabicas grown in the equatorial producing regions. Our Reggie’s Roast PREMIUM COFFEE line offers some of the
most exquisite coffees available, including Organic and Fair Trade products from a diverse range of cooperatives throughout Central and
South America.
